![]() Karen Steward joins Advocacy Centre for the ElderlyNovember 30, 2015 - Toronto - Karen Steward, formerly of Swadron Associates, is the newest lawyer at Toronto specialty legal aid clinic Advocacy Centre for the Elderly (ACE) in Toronto. Karen received a Bachelor of Arts degree from McGill University and was ranked in the top three percent of her graduating class at Osgoode Hall Law School where she received, among others, prizes for finishing first place in final year examinations and for the highest standing in courses on civil liberties, due process or the Charter. Karen served her articles of clerkship as a judicial law clerk with the Superior Court of Justice in Toronto and joined Swadron Associates upon her call to the Bar in Ontario in 2010. Her practice at Swadron Associates included guardianship and estate litigation, proceedings based on the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and acting as counsel for complainants/witnesses in criminal matters. Karen joins Swadron Associates alumnae Jane Meadus and Bernadette Maheandiran at ACE. The firm wishes Karen every success in her new role.
