Susan McDermott to join firm

TORONTO - July 23, 2008 Swadron Associates is pleased to welcome Susan McDermott. Susan graduated with great distinction from McGill University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. She attended Osgoode Hall Law School where she completed the Intensive Program in Poverty Law and was the recipient of the Ian Scott Public Interest Award. She articled at Beard Winter LLP and returned to that firm following her 2007 call to the Ontario Bar as a first year associate in the areas of corporate and estate planning law.

While at law school, Susan was active in both student-run legal clinics, representing clients in the Workers Rights Division of Community and Legal Aid Services Program and as an immigration and refugee caseworker at Parkdale Community Legal Services. Susan has an extensive record of volunteer involvement including serving as Program Director for Schools Without Borders and working abroad as a leadership coordinator in South Africa and Brazil. Susan's interests include public interest advocacy and social justice. She joins Swadron Associates in September 2008.
