Firm participates in Canadian Conference on Elder Law
October 29, 2010 - Toronto - Alex Procope and Marshall Swadron of Swadron Associates took part this year in the Fifth Canadian Conference on Elder Law held at the Sutton Place Hotel in Toronto. Alex participated throughout the conference while Marshall delivered a talk on the role of court-appointed counsel as part of a panel with Graham Webb of Advocacy Centre for the Elderly and Tess Sheldon of ARCH Disability Law, entitled Capacity and Access to Legal Representation.
The program marks the second time around for Alex who also participated in the fourth gathering of this event in Vancouver in 2008. The conference theme this year was Developing an Anti-Ageist Approach to the Law. It was hosted by the Law Commission of Ontario, the Canadian Centre for Elder Law and Advocacy Centre for the Elderly, which is this year celebrating its 25th anniversary. After a strike at the Delta Chelsea Inn, this year's planned location, nearly caused its cancellation, the event was an unqualified success.
