Mercedes Perez speaks at Ontario Bar Association conference
October 16, 2013 - Toronto - Mercedes Perez delivered a paper today at the Ontario Bar Association's conference entitled The Other Side of the Coin: Personal Care and the Estates Lawyer. Ms. Perez's talk on litigating personal care disputes under the Health Care Consent Act, 1996 was co-presented with lawyer D'Arcy Hiltz, former Vice Chair of the Consent and Capacity Board.
Held at the OBA Conference Centre in downtown Toronto, the conference attracted over 80 registrants and was co-chaired by Ameena Sultan of Whaley Estate Litigation) and Diane A. Vieira of de Vries Litigation. The program covered legal aspects of personal care issues including capacity and consent, drafting powers of attorney for personal care, duties of an attorney for personal care, and litigating personal care disputes.
