Alex Procope interviewed for More Than Money Radio show
September 27, 2014 - Calgary - Alex Procope was recently interviewed on More Than Money Radio on News Talk 770 in Calgary about end-of-life decision making. Alex discussed the importance of a discussing a power of attorney for personal care, which may include personal care directive with both a lawyer and a doctor, as a way that Canadians can minimize end of life issues. Alex outlines some of the issues families, doctors and courts face in determining the best interests of a person who is deemed incapable of making end-of-life decisions. Alex reviewed the implication of the recent Cuthbertson v. Rasouli decision of the Supreme Court of Canada and the factors in Ontario that substitute decision makers and Consent and Capacity Board must consider when making a decision for an incapable person, including prior capable wishes, values and beliefs along with medical information.
