Mercedes Perez Publishes Article
NEW YORK - May 20, 2005 - Mercedes Perez has published an article entitled Legislative Reform and the Struggle to Eradicate Violence Against Women in the Dominican Republic based on her research and interviews conducted in Santo Domingo. The research was part of a 2001/2002 internship sponsored by Canadian Lawyers for International Human Rights and the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. The 55-page article is a critical analysis of criminal law reforms undertaken in the Dominican Republic in 1997 to combat violence against women and is found in the Columbia Journal of Gender & Law (Volume 14, 2005, Number 1, Page 36).
